From Scratch to Signature: One Year in My Luxury Beauty Journey

A year ago, I moved to Lake City with nothing but a dream, a three-year lease, and a vision for something extraordinary. Starting over in a new city meant building everything from scratch a clientele, a studio, a brand, and an experience that felt uniquely mine.

The Early Grind
The first months were pure hustle. I balanced multiple jobs, consulting projects, and pop-up opportunities all while curating a luxury experience that set my services apart. I quickly realized that in the high-end beauty world, it’s not just about treatments; it’s about crafting moments that make people feel transformed from the second they walk in.
As a Salon Services skincare representative over the past few years, I had the opportunity to build connections across the community and gain insight into what every spa in the area was offering. When I decided to return to running my own business, I was able to curate a unique approach, identifying gaps in the market and creating services and experiences that set my brand apart from what was already available.
Going Viral
I have had my lease for at least 8 months, and I was still getting ready to decorate and stage the spa when I knew I had to do something to start generating income in the space. That's when I posted the video to welcome people in for free and it filled up my books overnight three months solid 10 hour days accidentally because my booking parameters weren't set correct correctly. Suddenly, my small client base turned into a waiting list overnight.
The moment confirmed something I already believed: originality and intention capture attention. But virality alone wasn’t enough. To sustain growth, I needed systems, partnerships, and curated offerings that could keep up with the demand while preserving the luxury experience.
The Hustle That Built the Brand
While the main business grew, I continued consulting, collaborating, and taking on side projects. Each hustle wasn’t just income it was marketing, networking, and learning, shaping me into a more strategic and visionary business owner.
At Ulta working as a third party brand rep, I would bring cards and tell myself to have at least one meaningful conversation with someone about my business during my shift. That day I met a local Executive at the Chamber of Commerce in Everett and we had an incredible service experience together. She trusted me with her lashes for a big life event, off of that interaction in the store. That's life changing. You never know who you'll meet. You just have to put yourself out there.
One Year In - March 2026
Now, almost a year later, the foundation is solid. The studio, the systems, the brand presence all are ready for the official full launch.
There are still a few signature products and offerings I need to roll out to complete the luxury experience, but the core vision is alive, thriving, and only getting stronger.
Thankful to all of the wonderful people that reached out during the viral moment to become a Foundational Client. The content and experience I gained during those services made me stronger as an artist and a person. I met some incredible people. In all their own ways, saving the world.
Lessons from the Journey
Start before you’re ready. A signed lease and a plan are enough to begin.
Diversify your hustle. Side projects can feed creativity, growth, and resilience. You have to stay bringing in income.
Momentum matters. Viral attention fades sustainable systems keep you in control. Stay grounded and focused.
Luxury is in the details. Every ritual, touchpoint, and client experience counts. Don't overlook that
Looking Ahead
The first year was about proving my vision to myself and to the city. The next chapter is about refining, elevating, and completing my signature luxury experience. From immersive rituals to exclusive products, every detail is designed to leave clients feeling seen, radiant, and transformed.
The journey is far from over but one thing is certain: this is only the beginning.
& hey, I'm going to say the most cliche thing ever... IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU!
