When Beauty Finds You: "What You Seek is Seeking You" - Rumi

There is a quiet moment when you realize you are ready to book a beauty appointment. You may have the need for lashes or a facial. But in reality you became aware of a subtle awareness that something felt dim, distant and slightly misaligned from the version of yourself that feels luminous, magnetic, and fully present.

And somehow, almost intuitively, you find yourself searching for the right place to book with.
This is not coincidence. This is alignment.
Beauty, at its highest expression, is not maintenance. It is a mirror into your highest expression of self.
For years, we have been taught to frame beauty maintenance as indulgence, as optional luxuries fall away to an otherwise serious life. But what if these rituals were not self-indulgent at all as if they were actual recalibrations? What if the urge to book that appointment is not vanity, but your nervous system, your spirit, and your skin communicating in unison that it is time to return to yourself.
I believe services like this find you at a time in your life when you're ready to see yourself, deeply.
Because the truth is, you rarely want “a service.” Your 'want' is to feel like yourself again. Like the book you love that has been left on the shelf too long, needing the dust to blown off the cover. Yearning to be cared for with intention. And to be a muse for the atelier like artist curating your couture services.
There is an old line from Rumi that reads, “What you seek is seeking you.” Nowhere does this feel more literal than in the beauty chair. The desire to glow again, to reset, to soften, to be cared for, does not appear at random. It arrives precisely when you have carried too much, when you have been performing for too long, when you have forgotten what it feels like to simply.... receive. deep breath & release
Like all the plants instinctively turning toward the sun, your energy leans toward light, warmth, and elevation when it is ready to rise. You believe you are booking lashes. Your soul is booking clarity. An artist that longs for clear communication to be able to perfectly accomplish the vision you had in mind or to have her vision assist you to create the best aesthetic for you.
Your skin, after all, is not merely an organ. It is a messenger. Dullness often appears when you are overextended. Tension collects in the face when you have been holding more than you should. Breakouts surface before emotional shifts. The body speaks constantly. Beauty rituals are where you finally slow down enough to listen.
And when the steam envelops your senses, warm towels soften your breath, taking deeps soothing breaths with unique scent profiles that transport you while intentional hands move with care across your skin, you begin to exhale things you did not know you were carrying. You soften. You open. You return home.
Homeostasis. For the nervous system. Then the skin. It all starts inside.
In these moments, the glow that follows is not topical. It is energetic. You do not simply look different; you feel reorganized. Your posture shifts. Your voice steadies. You walk with the quiet confidence of someone who has remembered who they are. While your affirmed, empowered and seen in Valerie's treatment room. It is tranformative.
Radiance is not a finish. It is a frequency.
You leave the treatment room feeling subtly lit in the most elevated sense of the word not because of products, but because of alignment. Because you were, even if only for an hour or two, allowed to exist without performing, without holding, without giving. You allowed yourself to receive.
Most people do not know how to articulate this need.
They say they want a facial, or lashes, or to relax. What they mean is far more profound.
They mean they need to feel cared for without expectation. Without having to explain what you need. To have someone sense what you need and give you something you couldn't even ask for even if you tried. They need to pause the constant effort of keeping everything together. They need to reconnect with a version of themselves that feels effortless, soft, and beautiful in a way that transcends mirrors.
We do not have language for this. Only experiencing.
That is Valerie Goodew's signature. This is the philosophy Lash & Groom is built on and how we intend to train our mentees, students and employees to be able to service clients at this level of care.
Ancient cultures understood what modern beauty often forgets: that touch, steam, oils, and stillness are sacred technologies for the human spirit. When your face is cleansed, your mind clears. When your lashes are lifted, your perspective subtly lifts with them.
When your skin is renewed, your energy follows.
This is not vanity. This is vibrational hygiene.
You may notice that the impulse to book an appointment often comes suddenly, almost instinctively. A thought appears: It’s time. This is not random. This is intuition. This is your inner wisdom recognizing that you have drifted slightly from center and need gentle recalibration.
You are not being indulgent. You are being responsive.
The most transformative beauty experiences feel strangely destined because they address needs you did not know how to name. You arrive thinking you are there for aesthetics and leave realizing you came for alignment. The treatment met you exactly where you were emotionally, energetically, physically without you ever having to explain.
This is the future of beauty. Not trend-based, but intuition-based. Not about what is popular, but about what your body is asking for. Sometimes that request is for deep extraction and reset. Sometimes it is for warmth, stillness, and softness. Sometimes it is for structure, lift, and polish. And sometimes, it is for all of it at once in a multi-sensory experience that restores you from the inside out.
True luxury, then, is not found in gold fixtures or expensive creams. It is found in being understood without having to speak. It is found in leaving a space feeling like you have had a conversation with yourself through touch, breath, scent, and stillness.
To glow days after your treatment and to NEVER forget how it made you feel.
The deeper truth is simple: you do not book beauty appointments because you are vain. You book them because, on a soul level, you know when it is time to come home to yourself.
And when you relax there, wrapped in warmth, eyes closed, breath slowing, you realize what you have been craving all along was never the service.
It is the feeling.
Xoxo Valerie 😘
